YEREVAN. – The nine-year-old boy, who was set on fire by gasoline and by his mother, was discharged two days ago from the Research Center of Radiation Medicine and Burns, in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.

The child’s father, Karen Nahapetyan, on Monday told about the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“The child’s condition is good, he feels fine,” Nahapetyan said. “Now, we are living at my mother’s home, until we repair the apartment.”

To note, Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan had instructed that the burned flat be repaired.

The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations had received a call, on February 9 at 5am, about a fire.

It was found out that a fire had broken out in a Yerevan apartment, and the flat was completely destroyed by the fire.

The fire and rescue workers, who had arrived on the scene, had brought out the child’s mother, Anna N., 47, and her little boy, F. N., 9, out of the apartment; but the two had sustained severe burns and injuries.

Two days after the incident, however, the mother had died in hospital, and without regaining consciousness.

Later, it was found out that the mother had hit the boy on the head with a hammer and, subsequently, set herself and her son on fire with gasoline.

The little boy was in serious but stable condition. The woman’s husband, who had gone to Russia to work, had returned to Armenia after this incident.
