Representatives of different nations live together in Sliven, reports Sliven News, citing  the City Mayor Kolyo Milev.

“Bulgarians, Turks, Gypsies, Armenians and many other nationalities live in Sliven. I think it wasn’t possible to disrupt the inter-ethnical peace of the city. Recent events are given too much attention. Problems can be found in any city and any region. Of course, these problems must be solved, and Bulgaria owes this to its citizens of all nationalities,” said the mayor.

Sliven is one of the least economically favorable cities in Bulgaria. Its population declined by 9 per cent in the 2000s.
