We are doing all we can so that the Karabakh conflict is resolved peacefully. The Minister of Defense of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan, stated the above-said at a press conference on Tuesday, and which was held at a frontline on a northeasterly direction of the border with Azerbaijan.

Ohanyan, recalling that this day marks yet another anniversary of the Armenian-Azerbaijani ceasefire agreement, stressed that the Armenian military and political leadership is doing everything to maintain peace.

“If it is not succeeding, the neighbor [i.e. Azerbaijan] must be asked about the reasons,” the minister stated. “We, for our part, are doing everything not allow the situation to exacerbate.”

Seyran Ohanyan added that, at times, the adversary aggravates the situation.

The defense minister also noted that last year was marked by the escalation of the situation on the border and the line of contact of the military troops.

“Such a thing had not occurred ever since the signing of the settlement agreement.

“But thanks to our fighters, the adversary’s actions did not give the desired result [for Azerbaijan].

“The adversary failed to advance at least one centimeter, whereas the [Armenian] public has become more united.

“Unfortunately, the [Azerbaijani] diversions were managed to be prevented at a very high cost; at the cost of the lives of the best sons of our nation,” Seyran Ohanyan specifically said.

The minister added, however, that the war is not over for him, since the ceasefire violations continue

At the same time, he recalled that the Azerbaijani side refuses to withdraw its snipers and to create mechanisms for investigating the ceasefire incidents.
