YEREVAN. – Armenia is an active participant of the international peacekeeping missions to mitigate and prevent emerging conflicts beyond the borders of our country, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said during a press conference on Tuesday.

The Defense Minister said that Armenian peacekeepers are involved in missions in Afghanistan, Kosovo and Lebanon. In addition, an agreement was reached on sending a staff officer of the Armenian Armed Forces to Mali this summer. 

The Minister praised exercises held in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the participation of Armenian units in the exercise of the CSTO and NATO. According to him, the focus was on the performance of complex tasks.

“There were unprecedented drills in Nagorno-Karabakh. The Armenian armed forces participated in the international events in various formats, exercises of the CSTO, NATO and the United States. The tank biathlon was the second in Russia's tank biathlon,” he added.
