The ‘mysterious’ disappearance of the Armenian flag on Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry website from the photo of May 9 parade dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War, also sparked the interest of the German press.

Specifically, the newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung, writes: “During the May 9 parade held in Moscow in memory of the World War II, Armenian and Azerbaijani militaries joined the parade one after another. However, Azerbaijan would prefer that no one knew about that.”  

The newspaper Der Spiegel pays attention to the fact that during the live broadcasting the Armenian flag is clearly seen behind the Azeri soldiers, it missing on Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry website. “Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan remain tense, mildly speaking. Nevertheless, the militaries of these countries joined the parade one after another, which Azerbaijan used as a reason for manipulation,” the newspaper writes.

“This time the victim of the tense relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan was the Armenian flag,” Yahoo Deutschland writes, stressing the fact that in the background of the photo - subjected to photomontage - one of the windows of the Russian History museum had disappeared.

Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry declined to comment on the matter. Azeri military expert Uzeir Jafarov noted he didn’t doubt the photomontage of the photo.
