YEREVAN. – As of Wednesday, May 20, a total of 1,048 car accidents have been recorded in Armenia since the beginning of the year.
Head of the Patrol Service Department of the Traffic Police, Norik Sargsyan, noted the aforementioned at a press conference on the same day.
In his words, 87 people died and 1,477 others were injured as a result of these accidents.
Sargsyan added, however, that even though the car accidents have increased by 59 as compared with the same period last year, the number of deaths has decreased by 15. But the number of injured has risen by 98.
But the Police official noted that if we take into account the fact that the number of automobiles in Armenia increase by 10 percent per annum, this increase in car accidents was foreseeable.
