YEREVAN. – Armenia can establish new cooperation with the European Union (EU) not solely in politics, but in economy.

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia National Assembly (RPA NA)Faction Secretary Gagik Melikyan stated the abovementioned at Friday’s NA briefings.

The RPA MP noted that in the lead-up to the EU Eastern Partnership Summit, which is held in the Latvian capital city of Riga, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan welcomed the fact that the will to deepen relations with the EU is free for the participants.

“The multipronged and balanced policy of Armenia is understood in Europe,” Melikyan said. “This is evidenced by German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s statement yesterday [i.e. Thursday] about showing respect toward the foreign political choice of our country.”
