“The United States expresses its strong support for EU efforts to foster closer cooperation and partnership with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine,” U.S. Deputy Department Spokesperson Marie Harf said in a statement released on Friday.

“We are committed to supporting further initiatives that promote democracy and good governance, strengthen energy security, fight corruption, and support economic and social development in Eastern Partnership countries,” TASS reports, citing Harf’s words.

Harf blamed Russia for pressure and disinformation. “This is especially important at a time of increased Russian pressure and disinformation throughout the region,” she said.

Marie Harf also congratulated Latvia for hosting a successful summit.
