YEREVAN. – Hearings on electricity price are likely to be held on June 12, Speaker of the Armeian parliament Galust Sahakyan told reporters on Monday.

Representatives of the Public Services Regulatory Commission and Electric Networks of Armenia will take the floor.

“All political parties are dealing with the issue. For me it is important that the price rise could be acceptable for the population,” Sahakyan said.

Asked why consumers have to pay for luxury lifestyle of the Electric Networks, Speaker said this should not happen.

The current electricity rate is 41.85 drams per 1 kWh during the day and 31.85 at night. However, it is proposed to increase the rate to 58 and 48 drams respectively.
