YEREVAN. – The Armenian Genocide resolution matter is not yet closed in the German Bundestag (Parliament), said German Ambassador to Armenia Reiner Morell, at a press conference on Monday.

The diplomat recalled that Bundestag President Norbert Lammert used the term “genocide” at the April 24 session of the German parliament.

The German lawmakers, however, did not reach common grounds on this resolution, and that is why this document was sent to the Bundestag Committee on Foreign Affairs, where it is debated.

“Of course I can’t say [exactly] when it will be,” the ambassador stated.

As reported earlier, the term “genocide” is used only in passing and it is not on the title of the respective resolution submitted by Germany’s ruling coalition. On the other hand, genocide recognition and condemnation is in the forefront of the resolution submitted by the Bundestag minority.
