YEREVAN. – The government can not build houses for Syrian Armenians, Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan.

“All that the ministry could, we have already done,” the Minister told reporters in the parliament, responding to a question about “New Aleppo” district  near Yerevan.

The Diaspora Ministry has received 620 applications from the Armenians from Syria that mention references to the amount they are willing to invest, the Minister said.

Now the government is helping Syrian Armenians from the limited resources, namely with the payments for rental apartments.

Of course, this measure applies to the socially vulnerable families, and unfortunately, the latest wave of refugees are people who have lost everything, Hakobyan added.
