YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of Armenia received a distress call on Tuesday at 5:11am.

Accordingly, a traffic accident had occurred—a crash, with an outbreak of fire—at a capital city Yerevan intersection, there were affected people who were stuck, and rescuers were needed.

A firefighting team and a rescue squad were dispatched to the scene.

It was found out that a van (driver, H. S.) and a taxi cab had crashed for yet unknown reasons and, subsequently, the cab had crashed into a pole.

Prior to the firefighters’ and the rescue squad’s arrival at the scene, however, the taxi passenger (S., around 32 years old) was transferred to hospital by local efforts.  

The rescuers rescued the taxi driver and the other passenger (A., around 33 years old), who were stuck in the vehicle, and they likewise were hospitalized.

It was found out from the hospital staff, however, that passenger S. has died, and doctors say the cab driver and passenger A. are in very critical condition.
