YEREVAN. – The situation at the border is relatively calm in connection with the holding of the European Games in Azerbaijan.
Caucasus Institute Deputy Director, political analyst Sergey Minasyan, stated the abovementioned at a press conference on Tuesday. He stressed that this fact only shows that the border tension and the rumors about the inevitability of military actions are artificial and they come from the military and political leadership of Azerbaijan.
In his words, if it is possible to increase the tension on the line of contact in two to three weeks, it is similarly possible to return to the previous state in two to three weeks.
“It’s just that this course is the striking evidence of the fact that which of the parties actually creates tension,” Minasyan noted, in particular.
The analyst said if the Azerbaijan leadership wants to show its constructiveness, it may continue to display goodwill after the forthcoming 2015 European Games, which the Azerbaijani capital city of Baku will host.
“The current fragile ceasefire regime shows that the entire wave of tension did not result in any change,” Sergey Minasyan stated. “Azerbaijan failed to achieve any result.”
