YEREVAN. - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, is skeptical with respect to a change in the demeanor of Azerbaijan.

The FM expressed his respective view during his joint news conference Wednesday with visiting Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Chairperson-in-Office Ivica Dačić, who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs Serbia.

Nalbandian, commenting—at the request of journalists—on Azerbaijan FM Elmar Mammadyarov’s recent statement that Azerbaijan is ready to work toward a comprehensive peace agreement and a need for changes in the process, said it needs to be cleared whether Baku waits for someone else to make these changes, or it, too, is ready to make a respective move.

“Azerbaijan has run a quite destructive policy to this day,” the Armenian minister noted. He added that this fact was once again demonstrated at the recent European Union Eastern Partnership (EU EaP) Summit, which was held in the Latvian capital city of Riga, where it was found out that Azerbaijan’s position was contrary to the view of the EU countries and the EaP members.

In Edward Nalbandian’s words, however, if Azerbaijan is ready to change its position and adopt a more constructive approach, “Why not? Let’s wait and see.”
