YEREVAN. – Application to raise electricity prices is conditioned by poor mismanagement in the Electric Networks of Armenia company, chairman of Informed and Protected Consumer NGO Babken Pipoyan said.
“The expenses presented by the company contain absurd figures. It is necessary to check whether these figures are real. In any event, if the price is increased, the company would once again ruin the management, and would probably file another application next year,” Pipoyan told reporters.
The current electricity rate is 41.85 drams per 1 kWh during the day and 31.85 at night. However, it is proposed to increase the rate to 58 and 48 drams respectively. Although State Public Services Regulatory Commission has not made a decision yet, chairman of the service Robert Nazaryan told reporters that the price would be increased.
