YEREVAN. – A 5-year-old girl was injured during the movement of a lift, representative of Emergency Situations Ministry Lusine Hovhannisyan told reporters.

“The girl got stuck between the second and the third floors during the movement of the lift cabin,” Lusine Hovhannisyan said.

This lift was not considered hazardous and was not subject to an annual examination, in fact, it is not designed for transporting people.

“Lift operated without doors which is a gross violation. If the lift is designed to transport people, then it must have doors,” Hovhannisyan said, adding that it is necessary to find out who installed the lift and for what purpose it was used.

After receiving an alert, the firemen and rescue workers took Lyusi B. (born in 2010) out of the lift. M. B. (born in 2008) and the child’s nanny, N. Z., also had been in the lift. The girl was taken to Armenia medical center where she died.
