YEREVAN. – A criminal case should be opened into possible electricity price rise, otherwise plunder will continue, political analyst and former MP Styopa Safaryan said.

Either the Armenian society has to pay for the luxury and sloppy work of the Electric Networks of Armenia, or we have to say “no” all together.

If the law enforcement agencies have no responded to reports on the apparent embezzlement so far, the organization will continue similar behavior, he said.

According to him, the Armenian authorities have already decided to rise electricity price. 

“Of course, electricity charges will not be increased by 17 drams, but the price will go up,” Safaryan said, adding that one should not underestimate the activities of civil society, and the fate of the issue will largely depend on them.
