YEREVAN. – The members of Armenia's State Commission for POWs, Hostages and Missing Persons together with the representatives of the Association of Army Doctors visited Aragatsotn Region to meet with the relatives of the missing in Karabakh war.

The meeting held under an instruction of Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan. Several meetings in different regions are held annually to draw attention to the problems of the families of the missing.

Members of the commission, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Jemma Baghdasaryan and National Assembly deputy Karine Achemyan listened to the problems of families of the missing, promising to find solution if possible. Relatives of the missing touched upon the problems of employment, various social problems, housing repairs.

Representatives of the Association held consultations and gave recommendations on further medical treatment and surgeries if necessary.

The families of missing persons were briefed on Commission's work on the organization of the search of the missing. It was stressed that, given the political situation and the reluctance of the Azerbaijani side to cooperate, search operations are complicated. Since any attempts to cooperate under the mediation of the international organizations have not given results, Armenia is trying to achieve direct contacts.

Aragatsotn region is now home to eleven families of the missing during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
