YEREVAN. – The Armenian government is calculating the consequences of the possible increase in electricity rate, PM Hovik Abrahamyan said in the parliament on Tuesday.

The government intends to support vulnerable families that are receiving allowances. As soon as the Public Services Regulatory Commission announces the new rate, the government will present its analysis.

An open parliamentary hearing scheduled for June 12 will bring together representatives of the relevant agencies and will provide explanations to the public, PM said promising to be “open and transparent for the public.”

Earlier Electric Networks of Armenia has applied to the Public Services Regulatory Commission to increase electricity rate by 40 percent.
