YEREVAN. – It is surprising to see double standards by NATO member states, Armenian MP Tevan Poghosyan said during a conference on NATO-Armenia relations.
“On the one hand, I am pleased that NATO realizes which conflicts it cannot be involved in, for example such as Karabakh conflict. The organization is making restrained statements in case of escalation, realizing that involvement of the Alliance may lead to unfavorable situation. Bu,t at the same time NATO often avoids involvement for the reason of regional security,” Poghosyan said.
The NATO countries demonstrated that they can correct the situation with the commodity that has always worked against the law of economics, that is with oil, MP said.
“The only product that worked contrary to the law, was oil. And the countries having oil - Russia, Azerbaijan – are dictating. If NATO is ready to oppose such a big country as Russia, how can member countries who claim the importance of values have a tolerant attitude towards Azerbaijan? Does the country have a high level of democracy?” Poghosyan wonders.
The OSCE office is closed, journalists are arrested, and there is no statement.
“If this happened in any other country, we would intermediately see relevant statements,” he resumed.
