YEREVAN. – Challenges threatening the Alliance in the east and south will be discussed during the upcoming NATO summit in Warsaw, NATO representatives Gerlinde Niehus told reporters in Yerevan.

Among the issues to be discussed are “challenges coming from the east, including Russia's aggression towards Ukraine”, said Niehus, Head of Communications at Public Diplomacy Division of NATO.

“At the same time we will have to touch upon the challenges in the south: Iraq, Livia, Syria where radical terrorists are threatening our borders,” she noted.

Asked whether NATO considers Russia a threat and what moves will be made in this direction, the Alliance representative said they are discussing the strategy for dealing with Russia.

“It will be further discussed at the summit in Warsaw on June 28,” she said.
