A lawsuit filed by a former tobacco outreach worker at Glendale Adventist Medical Center who was fired after he published an article criticizing the City Council has been settled out of court, while a related case against ex-Mayor Ara Najarian has been dropped, Glendale News-Press reports.

The trial was to take place on May 12, but the case was dismissed.

A settlement conference was held between all parties and their attorneys. According to Najarian, shortly after that meeting, the case against him was dropped by the consent of Gallegos and his attorney, not pursuant to a judge order.

Najarian, who was represented by the city attorney’s office, said neither he nor the city had to pay Gallegos any money since the case was dropped.

Besides, a settlement was reached between the Medical Center and Gallegos, but the resolution was confidential, its details remaining unknown.

Earlier, Steven Gallegos, anti-tobacco activist and the fired worker of one of the Glendale Medical Centers sued City Council member Najarian. Gallegos insisted he had been fired for criticizing Najarian’s proposal to loosen smoking restrictions for restaurants.
