YEREVAN. – The Electric Networks of Armenia should not organize charity events at the expense of consumers, secretary of ANC group Aram Manukyan said during the Friday hearing on electricity price hike.

“At the expense of consumers they were repairing nursing homes, orphanages, schools, kindergartens, were funding NGOs and helped in construction of the church of Hovik Abrahamyan. Who let them do it?” Manukyan wonders.

In response Robert Nazaryan, chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission, said Electric Networks can fund charity projects, but only at the expense of their profit.

Armenia's Public Services Regulatory Commission plans to increase electricity rate by 6.93 drams instead of 17 drams as proposed by the Electric Networks of Armenia.
