Forest fires in village of Lytton, to the south of Canadian province British Columbia,  have caused the evacuation of the population, TV channel CTV reports.

Currently ten families have been evacuated; residents of 65 dwelling houses are waiting  to be removed from the disaster area. The exact number of the evacuees is not reported. Overall, roughly 1,9 thousand people live in Lytton; these are representatives of Canada’s indigenous peoples.  

According to the Fire Department of British Columbia, the forest fires already cover over 1,5 thousand ha. “The fire is spread due to the strong wind, gusts of which reach 60km/h,” the agency spokesman Kayla Pepper said, TASS reports. 60 firefighters and 4 helicopters are engaged in the suppression of the forest fires.
