YEREVAN. – Greece and Egypt are the Armenia residents’ two most popular summer holiday destinations in the current year.

Several travel agencies informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that even though Egypt was the respective “leader” last year, Greece has taken the absolute lead this year.

Most travel agencies have indicated that, for the most part, Armenians prefer to spend their summer holidays with their family.

Those Armenia residents, who prefer Greece and Egypt as their summer holiday destination, usually book accommodations at five- or four-star hotels. But those that prefer Europe primarily stay at three-star hotels, since hotel accommodations are much more expensive in European countries.

Our survey conducted with several travel agencies in Armenia has revealed, however, that, by and large, these agencies do not engage in domestic tourism, which they explained by the lack of such a demand.
