YEREVAN. - Trade unions must be more active in defending the rights of workers, Artem Asatryan, Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs said in the parliament on Tuesday.
According to him, Armenia’s Labor Inspection no longer considers the issues relating to labor law, only dealing with issues on secure labor conditions. Thus, the legal relations of employer and employee are not considered.
“This task should mainly be taken by trade unions. That’s why we have activated the tripartite committee, which includes the representatives of the government, trade unions and the Union of Employers and where we regularly discuss similar issues,” the minister said.
