YEREVAN. – The Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) of Armenia has commenced its meeting for Wednesday.

At the session, the PSRC is expected to determine the new electricity price for the country’s population, and set new tariffs for the power generating companies.  

Several hundred people are staging a protest outside the entrance of the PSRC building. 

But executive director of the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) Company, Yevgeny Bibin, is not in attendance to the meeting. He informed in writing that, due to several reasons, he could not participate in the session.

The PSRC plans to increase the price of electricity for Armenia’s residents by 6.93 drams—instead of 17 drams, proposed by the ENA—, per cubic meter. If this decision is approved, however, it is expected to be followed by an increase in the prices of numerous products in Armenia.
