YEREVAN. – Armenia has joined technical appendix on the main principles of operation of railway and ferry complexes in the Black and Caspian seas of the international agreement “On International Transport for Development of Europe-Caucasus-Asia Corridor”.

As noted by Armenian Minister of Transport and Communications Gagik Beglaryan, the agreement regulates the port operators and the administration, rail and sea carriers.

The agreement provides for the mutual support of the various countries, if needed, as well as the exchange of pre-arrival information on cargo and vehicles. By mutual agreement of the parties, transit payments can be set as preferential.

“Landlocked Armenia provides transportation of goods to Europe by road and ferry links, via the Georgian ports of Poti and Batumi. The signing of this document will allow to increase the volume of traffic, as well as to develop multimodal transport,” Beglaryan explained.
