NATO Rose-Roth considers Armenia as a party capable of responding to the challenges in the South Caucasus, Vice President of NATO PA Paolo Alli said in Yerevan.

“We are definitely faced with tough security challenges. In the region like South Caucasus we considered long-term differences. Therefore, this conference is an ideal platform for dialogue that has not be conditioned by political reasons,” Alli said.

The conference, he said, makes it possible to clarify many issues of economy, politics, the options that relate to the removal of doubts, both at the local and regional level.

“But we should not deceive ourselves by illusions. The reasons for lack of progress in the dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan is not conditioned by provided opportunities. Military solution is not in the interests of any of the parties. We hope the parties will achieve mutually beneficial solutions,” he said during a Rose Roth seminar on Thursday.

Paolo Alli regretted Azerbaijan's decision not to participate in the Yerevan-hosted seminar.

“I hope will find the way for constructive dialogue. I am expecting open and transparent discussions on the challenges that Armenia and the entire region are faced with. We have to make our contribution to supporting Armenia on this matter,” NATO PA Vice President added.
