Armenia's Government and Food and Agriculture Organization of UN (FAO) will sign a Basic Agreement, which was approved at the Armenian Cabinet Meeting on June 18.

As the Minister of Agriculture Mr. Sergo Karapetyan mentioned at the meeting, the stimulus for signing the Basic Agreement is the strengthening and further development of bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the Food and Agriculture Organization of UN in the field of agriculture.

Since becoming a member of FAO, Armenia has received FAO’s support in elaboration of agricultural strategies, monitoring and evaluation, implementing various development and emergency projects aimed at increasing agricultural productivity and improving the country’s food security.

This Agreement covers the basic terms and conditions, within the framework of which FAO will provide support to the Government of Armenia for projects implementation.
