YEREVAN. – There are other principles and there are circumstances that do not enable the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict be settled solely on the basis of the principle of territorial integrity.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Ashot Hovakimian, noted the above-said at the 89th Rose-Roth seminar of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, and which is held in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan. Hovakimian stated this in response to Czech MP Milan Šarapatka’s remarks that the time is ticking against Armenia and query on whether Armenia is prepared to return the “territories occupied for strategic objectives.”  

“We are speaking about a peaceful settlement of the conflict. Returning a territory is not a mutual concession; it is a unilateral solution of the matter,” stressed Hovakimian. “If we continue this way, we can’t achieve a solution to the problem.”

Armenia’s deputy FM also recalled that the settlement of the Karabakh conflict should be based on multilateral concessions.
