YEREVAN. – The vote on new excise duties in Armenian parliament has been postponed. Head of Orinats Yerkir faction Heghine Bisharyan asked for a 20-minute break.

She noted that the draft bill will lead to increase in prices that will affect other goods, too.

“The country is facing a wave of protest against price rise, and the example is electricity price. Therefore, I offer to have a break for an additional debate,” she added.

Amendments to the law on excise duties proposed by Finance Ministry suggest rising excise duties on vodka, cigarettes, petrol and diesel fuel, as well as to set up excise tax on compressed natural gas.
