Armenia Deputy Minister: Armenian budget deficit exceeded 3% only 3 times in 20 years

YEREVAN. - For the last 20 years the deficit of Armenia’s state budget has only 3 times exceeded the 3 per cent GDP criterion provided by Maastricht agreement, Atom Janjughazyan, Armenia’s Deputy Finance Minister and Chief Treasurer said in the parliament on Friday.

The deficit criterion rocketed after the Global Financial Crisis: in 2009 and 2010 it constituted 7,6 and 5 per cent of GDP respectively.

This had happened only once before, in 2000 (3,4 per cent). “During all the other years we didn’t exceed this criterion,” Janjughazyan said.
