YEREVAN. – The activists protesting against electricity price hike ended their sit-in in Liberty Square and started a march to president's residence after their demands were not met. (photos)

Maksim Sargsyan, one of the organizers, addressed the protesters saying they would march to president's residence, since the Armenian authorities did not cancel their decision to rise electricity price.

He underscored that it is a peaceful march and cited the provisions of the Constitution and the Human Rights Convention, according to which their actions are legal.

Despite his remarks, the police said their actions are illegal and those who will violate the law will be held accountable.

During the June 19 rally against the increase in the price of electricity, the “No to Plunder” initiative had unexpectedly announced,, that they were starting a three-day sit-in at Liberty Square, and giving the authorities deadline until 7pm Monday, June 22. If the electricity price-hike decision is not canceled by then, they will head towards the president's residence, Baghramyan 26.
