YEREVAN. – The President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, on Thursday received a delegation led by Bruno Le Roux, Head of the Socialist Group at the National Assembly of France.

The interlocutors underscored the mutual visits and contacts, which, in their conviction, further strengthen the Armenian-French friendship.

“Such meetings have become traditional in the case of France,” noted President Sargsyan.

The participants in the talk also agreed that interparliamentary cooperation is one of the most important components for the strengthening of state relations.

Separately, MP Le Roux conveyed to President Serzh Sargsyan the warm greetings by French President François Hollande. He, too, noted with satisfaction that the Armenian-French bilateral talks have always stood out by their productiveness.

The French MPs also highlighted their forthcoming visit to Nagorno-Karabakh. In their view, France is interested in the continuation of the discourse and the process toward the establishment of peace for resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and their visits to Nagorno-Karabakh also serve this objective.

In addition, the guests asked the President to briefly present the current constitutional reform process in Armenia and the goal of this proposed reform. Bruno Le Roux stressed that, in his conviction, any structural change is welcome, if is aimed at the best option for governance and approved by the citizens of the given country.
