YEREVAN. – It is known when Russian soldier Valery Permyakov—who is the defendant in the case into the brutal murder of Avetisyan family in Armenia’s Gyumri city—will undergo forensic psychological and psychiatric evaluation.

Yervand Varosyan, an attorney of the relatives of the slain family, told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the said assessment is set for Thursday, and it will be conducted at the 102nd Russian Military Base in Gyumri.

Lawyers of the relatives of the Avetisyan family had petitioned for this review, and they likewise will be in attendance on Thursday.

Six members of the Avetisyan family—including a two-year-old girl—were shot dead, and a six-month-old baby—Seryozha Avetisyan—was wounded in their house in Gyumri on January 12; but the baby boy died in hospital on January 19.

Valery Permyakov, a serviceman of the 102nd Russian Military Base in the city, is charged with these murders.

Armenia and Russia instituted criminal cases on charges of murder and military desertion, respectively.

On August 12, the Russian court sentenced Permyakov to ten years in prison.
