A five-member delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), led by Jordi Xuclà (Spain, ALDE), on Monday arrived in capital city Baku to assess the framework and campaign prior to the parliamentary election to be held on November 1 in Azerbaijan, reported APA news agency of the country.

During the two-day visit, the PACE delegation is due to meet with the speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament, and the leaders of parliamentary groups and parties. Talks are also scheduled with the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE, president of the Central Electoral Commission, and representatives of NGOs and the media.

The delegation will issue a written statement at the end of the visit.

The PACE delegation also includes Franck Schwabe (Germany, SOC), Aleksandar Nikoloski (“The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”, EPP/CD), Egemen Bağış (Turkey, EC), and Agustín Conde (Spain, EPP/CD).
