US President Barack Obama rejected Turkey’s proposal to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Turkey’s opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) former MP Lütfü Türkkan stated that Obama refused to meet with Erdoğan within the framework of the 70th Regular Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York, and therefore Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu had traveled to the US, reported Nokta daily of Turkey.

“The presidents of all the countries were participating in the UN Assembly, whereas Turkey, which shelters 2.5 million Syrian refugees, was represented by the PM,” said Türkkan.
