YEREVAN. – Armenia will implement new programs with the Council of Europe (CoE), especially regarding the opportunities and format for conducting training for the correctional officers of the country.

The aforesaid was noted at Tuesday’s talk between Arpine Hovhannisyan, Minister of Justice of Armenia, and Mikhail Lobov, Head of the Human Rights Policy and Co-operation Department of the CoE Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law.

The minister highly praised the present-day level of Armenia-CoE cooperation, and underscored Lobov’s contribution to the successful course of the joint projects.

The interlocutors also reflected on the human rights program which the CoE is carrying out in the Justice Academy of Armenia.

Lobov, for his part, stressed that the CoE has a considerable track-record in conducting reforms in the prison system, and expressed readiness to share the CoE’s best respective practices with the Armenian partners.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to deepen cooperation.
