YEREVAN. – Armenia’s new Ambassador, Armen Melkonian—whose diplomatic residence is in the Egyptian capital city of Cairo—, presented a copy of his credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Algeria, Ramtane Lamamra.

In the ensuing talk, the Armenian diplomat and the Algerian FM discussed the avenues for intensifying Armenia-Algeria cooperation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In addition, Ambassador Melkonian briefed FM Lamamra on the priorities of Armenia’s foreign policy, and spoke about the friendship ties between the Armenian and Arab peoples.

Subsequently, the interlocutors exchanged views on regional challenges.

The Armenian diplomat also reflected on the latest developments regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and Azerbaijan’s continued violation of the ceasefire.

Armen Melkonian also met with the Minister of Culture of Algeria, Azzedine Mihoubi. They conferred on the opportunities for strengthening the cultural ties between the two countries.
