YEREVAN. – Even though the Government of Armenia is going to extend the lifetime of the operating energy block of the Metsamor nuclear power plant, this does not mean at all that the country is discarding the plans to build a new nuclear plant.
The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has noted the aforementioned in a statement.
“It should be realized, once and for, all that Armenia does not have an alternative to a new nuclear power plant. It is just that the [respective] process has slowed down recently, for various reasons.
“No matter what, Armenia shall have a new nuclear unit by [the year] 2027,” the statement specifically notes.
