YEREVAN. – New charges have been brought against Russian serviceman Valery Permyakov who stands accused of the murder of an Armenian family, Investigation Committee reported.

The details will be provided shortly, the Committee said.

As reported earlier, six members of the Avetisyan family—including a two-year-old girl—were shot dead, and a six-month-old baby was wounded in their house in Gyumri, Armenia, on January 12. The baby boy died in hospital on January 19. Valery Permyakov, a serviceman of the 102nd Russian Military Base in Gyumri, stands accused in this crime.

The 5th garrison court of Russia’s North Caucasus District Military Court sentenced Permyakov to 10 years of imprisonment for desertion and illegal bearing of weapons. The case on the murder of the Avetisyan family is dealt with by the Armenian side.
