YEREVAN. - Armenia PM Hovik Abrahamyan today attended the anniversary evening commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Armenian film director Henrik Malyan and 35th anniversary of the theatre establishment in Henrik Malyan Theatre. During the evening, archival materials on the theatre and the biography of its founder H. Malyan were displayed. Passages from H. Malyan’s book “A dialogue for the third one” were read out and episodes from the old repertoire performances were staged.
By the end of the event, the PM congratulated the theatre’s artistic director Narine Malyan and the actors on the anniversary, wishing them new artistic success. Stressing that the area of culture is constantly in the centre of the government’s attention, the PM expressed readiness on behalf of the executive body to continue provision of state support necessary for the normal operation of the theatre.
The theatre-studio for movie actors was founded by film director Henrik Malyan in 1980, this being something unique for the 80s culture. In 1988 the theatre-studio was renamed after its founder. Currently, the theatre’s artistic director is Malyan’s daughter, Narine Malyan, who continues the activity of her father.
