YEREVAN. - Baku’s attempts to politicize and speculate the merely humanitarian issues and related cooperation show the disrespectful treatment of the Azerbaijani side to the victims and missing persons, Armenia’s FM Edward Nalbandian said at the meeting with the newly-appointed ICRC Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Patrick Vial.

Nalbandian stressed that Armenia highly appreciates the active humanitarian activity of the organization and reconfirmed the readiness of the Armenian side to closely cooperate with the organization and provide full support to its efforts aimed at preventing humanitarian crises.

For his part, Patrick Vial presented the purpose and results of his visit to the region and his impressions about the meetings held in Baku and Stepanakert. According to him, the organization will continue to remain loyal to its neutral humanitarian mission.

Referring to the efforts and initiatives of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs in the direction of enhancing ceasefire in the zone of Karabakh conflict, Nalbandian said that denying the proposals of the mediators, Baku is taking the full responsibility for the exacerbation of the situation.  

The FM praised the ICRC activity aimed at ascertaining the fate of those missing as a result of the conflict.
