Ali Haydar Konca, Turkey’s former Minister for EU Affairs and member of Turkey’s pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), visited Almelo city in the Netherlands Sunday and had a meeting with the representatives of its large Armenian community.

The meeting held in Almelo’s Armenian Apostolic Church was attended by the members of the Netherland’s ARF Dashnaktsutyun and Armenian National Committee,  Ermenihaber.am told Information and Public Relations Department at Armenia’s MFA.

In his speech, Konca specifically referred to the issue of the Armenian Genocide: “We all know that the Armenian population residing in the Ottoman Turkey fell victim to the tragic and bloody events in 1915. If we were to describe the sufferings of the Armenian people in one word, we must say that the occurrence was a Genocide.”
