YEREVAN. – Board members of the “Stand up, Armenia” citizens’ movement and their supporters will stage a sit-in starting from Tuesday until the end of the four-day session of the National Assembly (NA).
The activists will hold this sit-in in the hopes of meeting with NA President Galust Sahakyan, and the heads of the parliamentary factions.
On Monday, the initiative members were demanding a talk—outside the parliament—with NA Chief of Staff-Secretary General Hrayr Tovmasyan, and with respect to setting up the expected meeting and submitting a petition—which is signed by 7,500 people—demanding the NA to debate the matter of removing President Serzh Sargsyan from office.
Tovmasyan, however, had not met with the “Stand up, Armenia” members, whereupon they announced that they will begin a sit-in.
