YEREVAN. – The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) will open a representation in Armenia.

The agreement with respect to the new status of the ICMPD was approved at Thursday’s meeting of the Armenian Cabinet.

Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, speaking at the session, stated that this office—which will function for three years and within the framework of a €4-million grant from the European Union—will help Armenia develop a policy regarding border management, and work in the fight against illegal migration and trafficking.

The ICMPD, whose headquarters is in the Austrian capital city of Vienna, brings together fourteen European countries.
