States shouldn’t use the Karabakh issue for destabilizing the situation in the region, especially in the Nagorno-Karabakh, Minister of Education, Youth and Sport of Cambodia Hang Chuon Naron told Armenian News – NEWS.am

According to him, Karabakh conflict is one of the reasons of the collapse of the Soviet Union. “Mikhail Gorbachev wasn’t able to solve this issue then. If it were solved then, the situation would have been difficult now. I think peace should be maintained and the conflict must be solved in a peaceful way. This is very difficult sometimes, but it must be remembered that both sides must do their best to solve the issue,” Hang Chuon Naron said. According to the Minister, the conflict must be resolved on the basis of the international law.

Responding to the question on how the international community should react to the periodic violations of ceasefire by the Azerbaijani side on the Line of Contact in the zone of Karabakh conflict and Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Hang Chuon Naron said: “I think, currently there are many hot spots in the world. The most important thing is that Armenia and Azerbaijan must do their best to maintain peace and try to resolve the issue in a peaceful way.”
