YEREVAN. – Ankara is attempting to weaken Moscow’s influence on Baku.

Military analyst Arkadi Grigoryan expressed such a view commenting, at the request of Armenian News-NEWS.am, on the recent statement by the chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, Hulusi Akar.

“If the Turkish side has begun speaking with words and phrases that do not differ from the vocabulary of the Azerbaijani side, arming Azerbaijan and provoking, this means Turkey is also a party to the [Nagorno-Karabakh] conflict,” Grigoryan noted. “And considering that there is a certain tension recently in Russian-Turkish relations, it can be assumed that in this context, Ankara is attempting to weaken Moscow’s influence on Baku.”  

Hulusi Akar, speaking to Azer Press news agency of Azerbaijan and responding to the query on whether Turkey and Azerbaijan would make joint efforts against Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, had stated: “Everything will be fine. Rest assured. We will do everything possible.”

The Turkish general, however, had refrained from giving any specific promises.
