The development of Armenia and Georgia, the well-being of the two fraternal nations is related to the strengthening of Armenian-Georgian relations and bilateral cooperation.

This was stated during the Friday meeting of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan with Chairman of the Georgian Parliament David Usupashvili that took place during Armenian leader's visit to Georgia (photo).

During the meeting the sides noted intensification of mutual visits at high level, which, according to Sargsyan and Usupashvili, give a new impetus to bilateral relations by providing the opportunity to discuss issues on the agenda of Armenian- Georgian relations.

Chairman of the Georgian parliament highlighted the importance of Armenian leader's visit. At the same time, he stressed that Serzh Sargsyan is highly respected in Georgia. According to David Usupashvili, Serzh Sargsyan is perceived not only as the president of a neighboring country, but also as a great supporter of strengthening the Armenian-Georgian friendship. Mr. Usupashvili expressed hope that the visit of Sargsyan will be another step towards the strengthening of friendship between the two countries.

The President of Armenia stressed the role of the two parliaments in strengthening the Armenian-Georgian relations, noting that interparliamentary ties have a special meaning in relations between the states.

Sargsyan and Usupashvili noted importance of developing cooperation in political, economic, humanitarian and other areas.

Georgian official said they are closely following the process of constitutional reforms in Armenia and added that in the process of drafting constitutional reformm members of the professional group also studied the experience of Georgia.

The sides noted importance of a balanced and restrained stance on issues of fundamental importance for the two countries.

They also touched upon the regional problems and challenges. Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of Georgia's role in ensuring security and stability in the region.
